Mentor program
The Midwest Chapter of MWA invites unpublished authors to enroll in its Mentor Program, which is designed to help aspiring writers sell their manuscripts. This program offers new writers an opportunity to have the first 50 pages of their mystery novels read and evaluated by a published writer.
Submissions must adhere to the following guidelines or they will be returned unread:
- typed in either 12-point Courier or 12-point Times New Roman;
- double spaced;
- a one-inch all-around margin;
- printed on only one side of the page;
- the title, your name and page number must appear at the top of each page.
In 2009, the program began September 1, 2009 and ended on October 31, 2009. When the program begins for 2010, manuscripts should be mailed to:
Tony Perona
6061 Debra Court
Plainfield, IN 46168
NO electronic submissions will be accepted. However, if you want to follow up on the status of your submissions, you can contact Tony at tperona@earthlink.net.
Include with the manuscript:
- A $50 check payable to MWA Midwest Chapter
- Signed and dated Acknowledgment and Release form.
- An unaddressed 10 X 13 envelope with sufficient first class postage to forward the manuscript to the Mentor
- A brief summary of the story, including sub-genre, i.e. Suspense/Thriller, Cozy, Private Eye, Police Procedural, Historical, Non-Fiction (no more than one page)
- A self-addressed stamped 10 X 13 envelope for return of the critique and manuscript.
